Grassports was selected to resurface the hockey pitch at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar from our previous working relationship with the school, our approach to the methodology and our ability to undertake the works.

Grassports set up temporary fencing to secure the site from the operating school. We then removed the worn existing surface and demolished the existing chain wire mesh fencing and begun excavating the site to a 200mm depth and disposing of the materials. Once we had finished constructing suitable drainage for the pitch it was time for the base, compacting 20mm of Class 2 FCR to a depth of 250mm and then graded asphalt to a depth of 30mm. Finally, the 10mm thick Insitu rubber shock pad layer.

Grassports then supplied and installed Poligras ECO HT, a synthetic hockey/tennis surface being 100% Australian made and manufactured here in Melbourne. The surface is FIH and IFT certified. Line marking included the hockey pitch (white) and 12 tennis courts (yellow). The school logo was also incorporated into the pitch surface. The project included the installation of new perimeter fencing as well as new hockey goals, and personalised PEGS hockey scoreboard.

The school is amazed with the transformation of the pitch and the staff and students are loving the new facility. We look forward to a strong ongoing relationship with PEGS when we continue the ongoing maintenance of the facility.
