Sacred Heart Primary School had an old cracked rubber surface and unsightly asphalt. Pools of water would collect on the existing surface after heavy rain…   
 
Grassports Australia transformed this into a functional outdoor classroom, learning and play area featuring an attractive, customised Amphitheatre. 
 
Initially the school were looking simply to resurface the grounds, however the in-house design expertise and advice from the Grassports team coupled with our ability to coordinate closely with the school’s architect, allowed for greater scope of works and a truly magnificent finish. Drainage and fall locations were a consideration in the design and eliminated the pooling of water that was occurring on the previous surface. 
 
The outdoor classroom, with a vibrant signgrass school logo has pride of place at the centre of the school’s grounds. Used for assemblies and class photos, with sandstone rocks for seating and trees and landscaping for shade, this area will be a long-lasting and practical feature of the school. 
 
Grassports Australia’s synthetic surfaces are highly durable and designed to withstand the foot traffic of a busy playground. The grass was laid in two colours to create zones for moving around the grounds, blue for play areas and green for walking paths. The “Chessboard” was resized to include only 10x10 boxes to be used for numeracy education programs, making this a truly customised school yard.
